Aloha Roger,

Thank you so much for helping us get the word out to the community that
placing flowers and other memorial tributes on Highway-11 near the scene of
Friday night's tragic accident is extremely dangerous.

It is not only dangerous for those pulling over and getting out of their
cars, but also dangerous for other drivers distracted by the activity and
sight of memorial items, especially along a Highway curve.

In addition, memorials are not allowed in national parks unless authorized
by the Director of the National Park Service.

Rangers will remove all memorial items both as a safety precaution and in
accordance with federal regulation.

Again we appreciate your care and concern in this most difficult time.

Mahalo and aloha,

Mardie Lane
Park Ranger
